Partnership History
April 10, 2006, the ATP and South African Airways announced a three-year partnership that saw the leading carrier of the African continent become the "Official Airline of the ATP". The multimillion-dollar global partnership coincided with South African Airways formally joining the Star Alliance.
On June 20, 2008, the partnership was extended for a further three and a half years in an agreement worth $20 million. It was also announced that a new ATP World Tour tournament in South Africa would debut in 2009.
As well as remaining the ATP's Official Airline Partner through 2012, the partnership will see the continuation of SAA's sponsorship of several of the ATP World Tour's prestigious international tournaments.
South African Airways also provides ATP players and staff with a special travel benefit program, facilitating the year-round international travel that characterises the global ATP World Tour. Through their membership of the Star Alliance, SAA will provide substantial travel benefits including the "Voyager Platinum" and "Gold Elect" cards for player members.
