Full name is Sam Austin Querrey...Began playing tennis at age four when introduced by his mother, Chris, is a housewife...Father, Mike, is a mortgage banker and was drafted by Detroit Tigers but chose to play college baseball instead...Has one younger sister Ellen, who is an outstanding volleyball player at Thousand Oaks High School...Had a full scholarship offer to play at Univ. of Southern California before deciding to turn pro in June 2006...Hobbies include playing basketball, table tennis and golf...As a junior, reached QF at US Open juniors in 2004 and Roland Garros juniors in 2005...Also won back-to-back junior hard court titles at USTA Spring Championships and Easter Bowl in April 2005...A Los Angeles Clippers (NBA) fan...Favorite surface is hard courts and considers serve and forehand his strength...Hit two home runs in batting practice on Mar. 29, 2008 at Dolphins Stadium in Miami.

2011 -- The California native returned from right elbow surgery to finish in Top 100 for 5th consecutive season…Underwent surgery on June 16 in New York and was sidelined nearly 3 months before returning Sept. 12 at Tulsa Challenger where he reached SF...Had a 12-15 match record (8-8 on hard, 2-6 on clay, 2-1 on grass) with best ATP World Tour resultsbeing 2 QF, in Memphis in February (l. to Fish) and Valencia in November (d. No. 8 Tsonga, l. to del Potro)…Also reached 4R at Indian Wells and 3R in Miami...Upon returning, played in Sacramento and Tiburon Challengers, losing to Karlovic in SF and final, respectively, 6-4 in 3rd set in both…Had a 10-3 mark in Challengers...His last tournament before being sidelined was at Queen’s Club in London (l. to Ward 3R)...

2010 -- The No. 3 American won career-high four titles (on three different surfaces) in five finals en route to his first Top 20 finish…His four titles were third-most on tour (behind Nadal's seven, Federer’s five)…In Memphis, won singles (d. Isner) and doubles (w/Isner)…Runner-up in Houston (l. to Chela)…In May, beat Isner again for Belgrade title (saving one match point)…Earned his first career grass court title at Queen’s (d.
