The ATP World Tour’s Asian swing begins in Southeast Asia at the Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur, welcoming the best men's tennis players. The ATP World Tour 250 tennis tournament, officially launched by Malaysian Prime Minister Yang Amat Berhormat Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Razak in 2009, is held indoors at the 16,000-seat Putra Stadium.

Baghdatis Denied - Former World No. 8 Marcos Baghdatis welcomed a return to form as he reached his first ATP World Tour final of the season, but was unable to capture his fifth trophy. The Cypriot dropped to a 4-7 finals record.

Nishikori Upsets Almagro - Japanese No. 1 Kei Nishikori returned to the Top 50 after reaching his fourth ATP World Tour semi-final of the season. In the quarter-finals he upset top-seeded Spaniard Nicolas Almagro.

Troicki Slips Up - Serbia’s Viktor Troicki had an outside chance of qualifying for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, but slipped up in his pursuit of vital points as he was beaten in the semi-finals by Marcos Baghdatis.

Tipsarevic Captures First Title
World No. 17 Janko Tipsarevic captured his first ATP World Tour title at the fifth attempt when he beat Marcos Baghdatis 6-4, 7-5 in the Kuala Lumpur final. He became the 10th first-time winner on the ATP World Tour in 2011. "It feels great. I think I deserved it," said Tipsarevic. "I feel happy that I won against a great player in a final that I hope kept the fans on the edge of their seats until the very end. I could not be happier."
