Brasil Open Moves To Sao Paulo
After 11 successful years in Costa do Sauipe, the Brasil Open moved in 2012 to Sao Paulo, where it was played at the Complexo Desportivo Constâncio Vaz Guimarães. The ATP World Tour 250 clay-court tournament also moved from outdoors to indoors due to regular wet weather in Sao Paulo in February.

Bellucci Delights Locals - Thomaz Bellucci reached his first ATP World Tour semi-final since May 2011 at ATP World Tour Masters1000 Madrid (l. to Djokovic). The 2009 runner-up fell to Filippo Volandri 5-7, 6-0, 6-2.

World No. 11 Nicolas Almagro defeated Filippo Volandri 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in Sao Paulo to become a three-time titlist (also 2008, 2011) at the Brasil Open. The Spaniard is the first wild card to win an ATP World Tour event since American Ryan Sweeting captured the Houston title last year. All 11 of Almagro's career titles have come on clay courts.
