German Tommy Haas reveals the last time...
I paid to use a tennis court?
That was actually not too long ago. I just paid to use the tennis court in Munich at the SportScheck all-weather club. I was practising there with my coach for about an hour and a half and as I walked out they asked me to pay for the court. It was €18/hour, so I had to pay €36. I was a little bit shocked at first, but I ended up paying because that’s what you do in the end.
I paid for tennis balls?
Also not too long ago, in a country club where I played in LA. I showed up without any balls. As players we get lazy sometimes, we forget the towels and the balls all the time. I just went into the pro shop and bought some balls.
I met a childhood idol?
Not too long ago, at a concert with my father-in-law. There were quite a few big singers. I really like the group ‘Chicago’ and meeting Peter Cetera was a pleasure. Also meeting the ‘Voice of an Angel’ - Andrea Bocelli – was quite special.
Being recognised help me?
Actually just today, here in Washington, I got a free coffee. I walked into the Starbucks here on P Street and this guy recognised me, knew a lot about me, and basically said, “Here, you get the grande latte on the house,” which was quite nice. He was a really nice guy. So that was pretty cool.
I went to the movies?
Five nights ago. I went to see Batman: Dark Knight Rises.
I lost something important?
I thought I had lost my car keys just about a week ago. My daughter, Valentina, was hiding them. It took me about 45 minutes to look for them and I’m glad I found them!
I cooked for myself or others?
I do that a lot for breakfast. I usually am the breakfast man!
