Rafael Nadal captured his 18th career ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title in Madrid, becoming the first player to win all three ATP Masters 1000 clay court tournaments in the same year. Nadal accomplished the feat in his 53rd ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament and Andre Agassi needed 84 tournaments to reach his mark of 17 in a span of 14 years.

Nadal's 18 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles have come in six different tournaments. He's won at least 20 matches in five tournaments. Of the current nine tournaments the only final he has not reached is Cincinnati.
