Di Palermo Elected New Player Board Representative

The Player Council elected Giorgio di Palermo as European Player Representative to the ATP Board of Directors, and confirmed the appointments of Fernando Gonzalez and Ashley Fisher as members of the 2008-2010 Player Council. Gonzalez fills the 1-50 singles and South American position, while Fisher fills the at-large and International Region position.
Di Palermo, who starts his term immediately through 31 December, 2012, worked as a Tour Manager traveling an average of 25 tournaments per year since 1996. In his last two years at the ATP before his departure in 2008, Di Palermo was promoted to Director of Player Relations and continued to travel as a Tour Manager, while taking on additional responsibilites of overseeing the Retirement Plan and serving as Officiating liaison.
From 1992 to 1996, Di Palermo worked as a Tournament Director assistant in Rome and also worked in many Challengers and Davis Cup ties for the Italian Federation. Di Palermo earned a Law degree from the La Sapienza University in Rome in 1989.
