Federer Strong During North American Hard-Court Swing

New father of twin daughters, Roger Federer, has been the most successful player over the past five years during the North American summer hard court circuit leading into the US Open, winning four titles over the past five years. Here is the latest installment of "Shark Bites":

ATP World Tour Masters 1000 & US Open Success
 
Since 1998, seven times a player has won an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title in Canada or Cincinnati then gone on to capture the US Open. ATP World Tour No. 1 Roger Federer has accomplished the feat four of the past five years (except '08). On two occasions, a player has won both titles. Here is a look at the players who won at least one of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles and then the US Open in the same year:

Andre Agassi is the all-time leader with 22 titles of tournaments that begin in the month of July and August followed by Guillermo Vilas and Jimmy Connors with 21 each. Over the years, top players have performed at their best during the summer months with eight players ranking No. 1. Roger Federer is the tied for 10th on the list with 10 titles, the best among active players on the ATP World Tour.
