Paradorn Srichaphan made his long-awaited return to the ATP World Tour Wednesday at the PTT Thailand Open, an ATP World Tour 250 indoor hard-court tennis tournament in Bangkok.

Srichaphan and his Thai compatriot Danai Udomchoke, a wild card pairing, were unable to beat Michael Kohlmann and Alexander Peya in a first-round clash. Kohlmann and Peya hit six aces and won two of five break points to win 2-6, 6-1, 10-6 in just 56 minutes. They go on to meet third-seeded Austrians Julian Knowle and Jurgen Melzer.

The 30-year-old Srichaphan had been sidelined with a recurring right wrist injury since March 2007, when he retired against Luis Horna in the Sony Ericsson Open first round. He underwent surgery in Los Angeles in October later that year.

Two seeded teams, Travis Parrott and Filip Polasek and Lukas Dlouhy and David Skoch, made first round exits on Wednesday.

French duo Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Fabrice Santoro hit eight aces and saved five of seven break points to edge past top seeds Parrott and Polasek 6-3, 6-7(9), 10-7 in one hour and 45 minutes.  Americans Eric Butorac and Rajeev Ram withstood 10 aces from the racquets of Dlouhy and Skoch to beat the second-seeded Czechs 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 in 70 minutes.  Both pairs saved seven of eight break points.

At the Proton Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur 2009, another ATP World Tour 250 indoor hard-court tournament, third seeds Martin Damm and Robert Lindstedt clinched one service break to defeat Johan Brunstrom and Jean-Julien Rojer 7-6(6), 6-4 in 87 minutes.

Both pairs hit eight aces, but the victors won 82 per cent of service points. Damm and Lindstedt has a 3-2 record in ATP World Tour finals this year, including titles at the Heineken Open in Auckland, the PBZ Zagreb Indoors and Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington.

Igor Kunitsyn and Jaroslav Levinsky advanced to the semi-finals, after edging past Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi 2-6, 7-6(4), 13-11 in one hour and 34 minutes.
