by ATP Staff
|17.10.2009
Two players with outstanding ATP World Tour finals records will meet in the final of the Shanghai ATP Masters 1000 presented by Rolex Sunday, after Rafael Nadal and Nikolay Davydenko had semi-final wins on Saturday. After titles at Indian Wells, Monte-Carlo and Rome, Nadal is trying to win four ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles in a season for the second time in his career, having achieved the feat in 2005 (he won two in 2006 and three in 2007, 2008 and so far in 2009). The Spaniard is also trying to become the first player this year to win six tour-level titles. Davydenko, who is going for his fourth ATP World Tour title of the year, has won two ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles in his career: Paris in 2006 and Miami in 2008. The Miami final could be significant, as that was the only time Nadal and Davydenko met in a final (with Davydenko winning in straight sets). The Russian is chasing one of three remaining spots in the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London next month.
