The Agora building, the new architectural jewel of the Valencia City of Arts and Science, which will host the Centre Court of the Valencia Open 500, was inaugurated on Thursday by the Mayor of Valencia, the President of the Generalitat and the part owners of the ATP World Tour 500 tournament, Juan Carlos Ferrero and David Ferrer.

“In the last few months there hasn’t been a player who didn’t ask me about the Agora,” said Ferrer.  “I think they will be amazed by the result.

“The best players will compete here in Valencia, so I think the public will enjoy the event more than ever.”

Former World No. 1 Ferrero said: “My dream is for the Valencia Open 500 to become one of the most important tournaments in the world.”

The Agora building has been designed by famous Valencia architect Santiago Calatrava.  It is the last component of the City of Arts and Science.  It seats 5,500 spectators.  World No. 4 Andy Murray is set to lead the field at the 2-8 November indoor tournament.
