Basel Preview - Three-Time Champ Federer Returns; No. 2 Seed Djokovic Debuts

This year’s Swiss Indoors Basel is one of 11 ATP World Tour 500 level tournaments. The top seed is three-time defending champion and World No. 1 Roger Federer, who takes on Belgian qualifier Olivier Rochus on Monday. The No. 2 seed is Novak Djokovic, who is making his tournament debut. Other seeds are: No. 3 Fernando Gonzalez, who won the title in 2005 and has a 15-4 career mark in Basel, No. 4 Marin Cilic of Croatia, No. 5 Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic, No. 6 Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland, No. 7 James Blake of the U.S. and No. 8 Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany. In the opening match Monday, ATP World Tour aces leader Ivo Karlovic takes on Frenchman Florent Serra followed by Italian Andreas Seppi against Swiss wild card Stephane Bohli. In the evening session, Federer brings a 6-0 mark against Rochus and No. 5 Stepanek is 5-2 lifetime against German Rainer Schuettler.
