Reigning ATP World Tour Champions Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic won their 50th tour-level match of the season Saturday with a 6-1, 7-6(1) victory over German-Serbian duo Christopher Kas and Viktor Troicki in the semi-finals of the Davidoff Swiss Indoors Basel, an ATP World Tour 500 tennis tournament.

The Wimbledon champions were dominant on serve in the encounter, facing no break points and surrendering just 10 points. They broke their opponents’ serve twice in the first set before edging victory in a second-set tie-break after 65 minutes.

Canadian Nestor and Serbian Zimonjic will contest their 10th tour-level final of the season, and their first in Basel. It is their first final since winning their seventh title of the year at the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters (d. Bryan-Bryan) in Cincinnati in August.

The 37-year-old Nestor will chase his third title from four final appearances in Basel. The left-hander, who has won 62 tour-level titles – the most among active players, reached the final in 2002 with former long-time partner Mark Knowles and the duo returned to capture the title in ’03 (d. Arnold Ker-Hood) and ’06 (d. Fyrstenberg-Matkowski).

In a blockbuster final they will face three-time former winners Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan, who rallied from a set down to defeat Brazilians Marcelo Melo and Andre Sa 4-6, 6-0, 10-7 with four service breaks in 66 minutes.

Victory marked Mike Bryan’s 600th tour-level match win, taking him to a 600-207 mark. The twins are bidding for a fourth title in Basel. They lifted the trophy on their debut in 2002 (d. Knowles-Nestor) and returned to regain the title in ’04 (d. Arnold Ker-Hood) and ’07 (d. Blake-Knowles).

The Americans are chasing their seventh tour-level title of the season, and their second in as many months following success at the China Open (d. Knowles-Roddick) in Beijing. The Bryans, who will feature at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals later this month, won their seventh Grand Slam championship at the Australian Open (d. Bhupathi-Knowles) at the start of the season.

At the Valencia Open 500, third seeds Frantisek Cermak and Michal Mertinak stayed on track to seal one of the remaining four berths at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals by reaching their seventh ATP World Tour final of the season. The Czech-Slovakian duo defeated Romanians Victor Hanescu and Horia Tecau in the semi-finals of the ATP World Tour 500 tennis tournament.

At the Valencia Open 500, third seeds Frantisek Cermak and Michal Mertinak stayed on track to seal one of the remaining four berths at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals by reaching their seventh ATP World Tour final of the season. The Czech-Slovakian duo defeated Romanians Victor Hanescu and Horia Tecau 7-5, 6-3 in the semi-finals of the ATP World Tour 500 tennis tournament.

Cermak and Mertinak are currently eighth in the year-to-date 2009 ATP Doubles Team Rankings and today added a further 120 points to their total, taking them to 3,200, just 95 points behind seventh-placed Wesley Moodie and Dick Norman. The top eight teams qualify for the season finale, to be held at The O2 in London later this month.

In their debut season together, Cermak and Mertinak have compiled a 44-24 mark, highlighted by winning four ATP World Tour titles. They triumphed most recently at the BCR Open Romania (d. Brunstrom-Rojer) in Bucharest in September and two weeks ago reached the final at the Kremlin Cup (l. to Cuevas-Granollers) in Moscow.

In the final they will meet Spaniards Marcel Granollers and Tommy Robredo, who cruised past Americans Eric Butorac and Rajeev Ram 6-3, 6-4 with three service breaks in the 51-minute match. Granollers and Robredo are through to their second ATP World Tour final together after titling at the Brasil Open (d. Arnold Ker-Monaco) in Costa do Sauipe in just their second outing together earlier this year.

The 23-year-old Granollers is trying to collect his fourth ATP World Tour title of the season, having also won at the Copa Telmex (w/Martin) in Buenos Aires and the Kremlin Cup (w/Cuevas) in Moscow in addition to his triumph in Costa do Sauipe. He is 3-1 lifetime in ATP World Tour finals. Robredo, 27, who is trying to earn his second title of the year, is 3-3 in ATP World Tour doubles finals.
