Top seed Andy Murray, No. 2 Nikolay Davydenko, No. 4 Fernando Verdasco and No. 5 Gilles Simon headline Friday’s quarter-finals at the Valencia Open 500. Davydenko and Verdasco are trying to secure the final two positions in the year-ending Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London, which begins Nov. 22. In the first match on Pista Agora, Simon looks for his first win (0-4) against unseeded Russian Mikhail Youzhny. In the second match, Murray takes a 2-0 advantage against Spaniard Albert Montanes, then in the third match, another Spaniard, Guillermo Garcia-Lopez looks for his first win (0-1) against Davydenko. In the final match, Verdasco and countryman Tommy Robredo, the No. 7 seed, meet for the eighth time. Robredo leads 4-3 but Verdasco has won two of the previous three meetings.
