Roddick Goes Head-To-Head With Dwyane Wade

In the most anticipated H-O-R-S-E game of the year, Grand Slam champ Andy Roddick and NBA world champion Dwyane Wade met on the purple court of the Sony Ericsson Open in a showdown for the ages.

First trying his luck at tennis, Wade soon realized that his gift truly resides in basketball as he was unable to gauge or even attempt to return the 100-plus mile per hour serves that Roddick was dishing out.

At times, Wade had to duck for his life. When he did get the opportunity to rally, other tennis courts became his playing field, hitting balls to the surrounding courts, tents and promenades.

Roddick seemed to enjoy facing off against Wade on his own terms, but the tide eventually turned when the two put down their rackets and picked up a basketball.

Although Wade postured in warm-ups with an aerial display of dunks, the match was more hotly contested than one would anticipate. Unexpectedly sharp shooting on the part of Roddick kept the pace neck-and-neck, with Wade even trailing in the early going.

Ultimately, the degree of difficulty on the part of the All-NBA performer got the better of the creativity of Roddick.

The playful and many times self-deprecating banter between the mega-stars made the event a rousing spectator display, which concluded with even more smiles for the media in attendance. An exchange of gifts followed by the signing of autographs for hundreds of fans young and old capped the event.
