Eighth-seeded Poles Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski played a near perfect mix of power and finesse to oust No. 2 seeds Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan 6-2, 6-2 in quarter-final action Wednesday at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.

The Poles set the tone by breaking Bob Bryan in the opening game, and raced to the victory in 52 minutes as they combined their huge power on serve and return with great finesse at the net. They went four for eight on their break point opportunities, while fending off the Bryans’ four chances.

Fyrstenberg and Matkowski had won just one match in five previous appearances at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament in Miami, and had worked hard to reach the quarter-finals this week, eking out their first two wins in a Match Tie-break.

The Bryans had been looking to book their spot in the Miami semi-finals for a fifth straight year. The 31-year-old American twins won back-to-back Sony Ericsson Open titles in 2007 and ’08.

In the top half of the doubles draw, No. 3 seeds Lukas Dlouhy and Leander Paes advanced to the semi-finals with a 6-4, 6-4 win over unseeded Germans Benjamin Becker and Michael Kohlmann.

The Czech-Indian duo will attempt to reach their third ATP World Tour final of the 2010 season when they next face Nicolas Almagro and Tommy Robredo, 7-5, 6-3 winners in an all-Spanish quarter-final against Feliciano Lopez and Fernando Verdasco.
