The ATP University was conducted at the Mayfair Hotel & Spa in Miami, with 25 players graduating from a program that looks to enhance their careers as tennis professionals, provides a thorough knowledge of ATP operations and the skills necessary to enjoy a productive life on the circuit.

The three-day course, held 18-20 March, featured classroom presentations made by ATP Executive Chairman & President Adam Helfant, ATP staff members and outside experts specialising in the fields of communications, finance, and medicine.

The workshop also covered topics including the history of the ATP, how to control personal finances, and the importance of the media and promoting the sport.

“It was a really good thing for the past three days,” said Swiss Michael Lammer. “I learned a lot about what's behind the organisation. There is a lot of passion in the sport and in the people that work to make all happen at the ATP.”

Portugal’s Rui Machado admitted, “It was nice experience to know more about tennis and about the ATP. The finance presentation is going to be useful in my life, in my career, in my business. I met more players and made friends in the last three days. It will be easier to find someone to practise or someone to go for dinner.”

Turkish player Marsel Ilhan said: “I thought the overview of the ATP World Tour was very good. Is very interesting to know about how the sport works. We were able to ask many questions to the president of the ATP. All players asked about different topics and we had good conversations.”
