Allegro-Federer Record Opening Doubles Win

Wild cards Yves Allegro and Roger Federer set up a second round clash against No. 6 seeds Simon Aspelin and Paul Hanley and the Internazionali BNL d'Italia on Monday.

The Swiss duo won 70 per cent of service points and hit five aces to beat Johan Brunstrom and Jean-Julien Rojer 6-4, 7-6(4) in 81 minutes on the new 10,500-seater stadium at the Foro Italico, venue of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 clay-court tennis tournament.

Federer will challenge World No. 40 Ernests Gulbis of Latvia in his first singles match on Tuesday.
