Kubot Mourns Death Of Polish President

World No. 42 Lukasz Kubot was deeply saddened to learn of the death of the Polish President, Lech Kaczynski, who was killed in a plane crash in western Russia on Saturday.

A message on the Polish No. 1’s personal web site said:

“The Polish President Lech Kaczynski was killed in a plane crash in western Russia yesterday. The presidential plane was carrying dozens of other senior Polish politicians and officials to Katyn. When news of the most tragic event in the country’s post-war history reached Lukasz at the airport, waiting to fly to Nice, he felt devastated and deeply moved. ‘Words can’t express the grief I’m feeling at this moment,’ Lukasz said. ‘In a sign of mourning, I will wear black attire on the court in Monte-Carlo.’”

Kubot will feature in both the singles and doubles (w/ Oliver Marach) competitions at next week’s Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters.
