Third seeds Lukas Dlouhy and Leander Paes bounced back from their Roland Garros final defeat by reaching the second round of the UNICEF Open with a hard-fought 6-1, 6-7(5), 10-6 win over Florent Serra and Kristof Vliegen on Monday at the ATP World Tour 250 grass-court tennis tournament in 's-Hertogenbosch.

The Czech-Indian pairing broke serve twice as they raced to a one-set lead, but were pegged back in the second set as their opponents levelled the match in a tie-break. They recovered in the Match Tie-break, though, to seal victory in 68 minutes.

Dlouhy and Paes, currently third in the 2010 ATP Doubles Team Rankings, are playing their first tournament since finishing runner-up to Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic in the Roland Garros final a week ago. They won their lone title of the season at the Sony Ericsson Open (d. Bhupathi-Mirnyi) in Miami in April.

Third-seeded Germans Christopher Kas and Michael Kohlmann were ousted in the first round by German-American duo Benjamin Becker and Scott Lipsky, who also prevailed in a Match Tie-break 7-6(3), 4-6, 10-7 after 74 minutes.

At the AEGON International in Eastbourne, top seeds Lukasz Kubot and Oliver Marach suffered a first-round upset to Brazilians Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares 6-1, 6-3. Soares won the ATP World Tour 250 grass-court title in 2008 with Kevin Ullyett

The two British duos in action posted mixed results. Wild cards Jamie Baker and James Ward defeated Nicolas Almagro and Eduardo Schwank 6-2, 7-6(4), while Jonathan Marray and Jamie Murray fell to Andrey Golubev and Andreas Seppi 6-4, 5-7, 10-2.

One British team is assured of reaching the semi-finals with Baker and Ward set to meet Colin Fleming and Ken Skupski in their next match.
