Top seed and wild card entry Andy Murray takes on No. 2/defending champion Sam Querrey in Sunday’s final of the Farmers Classic presented by Mercedes-Benz.

It is the first No. 1-2 seed final in Los Angeles since 1999 when No. 2 Pete Sampras beat top seed Andre Agassi in two tie-breaks. It’s the fifth 1-2 final in the Open Era at the tournament and eighth 1 vs. 2 final on the ATP World Tour this year. No. 2 has won four times.

Murray has won all four previous meetings (9-0 in sets), including a 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 triumph in the fourth round at Wimbledon a little over one month ago.

This marks the seventh time since 2000 that an American is playing in the final. At least one American has contested the LA final 35 times in the 43 Open Era years. Querrey is looking to become the first player to repeat as champion here since Agassi in 2001-02.

Murray is appearing in his first final since the Australian Open on Jan. 31 (l. to Federer). Murray is seeking his 15th career ATP World Tour title (14-7 in finals). His last title came in November ’09 in Valencia (d. Youzhny).

Querrey is appearing in his fifth ATP World Tour final of 2010. Last year he also reached five finals but was 1-4. This year’s titles have come in Memphis (d. Isner), Belgrade (d. Isner) and Queen's Club (d. Fish) and was the finalist in Houston (l. to Chela). Querrey is the only player to win titles on three different surfaces in 2010. The 22-year-old American is 5-5 in career finals.
