This week the Open Castilla y Leon, an ATP Challenger Tour event in Segovia, Spain, is playing host to both the FIFA World Cup and Davis Cup trophies.
Spaniards Daniel Gimeno-Traver, Ivan Navarro and Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo are all playing in Segovia this week and took the opportunity to have their photo taken with the two trophies.
The coveted trophies are being exhibited to the fans attending the tennis in celebration of a remarkable sporting year for Spain, which has seen it excel in tennis and football.
Spain is the current holder of both the Davis Cup and the FIFA World Cup. In 2009 the Spanish Davis Cup team, consisting of World No. 1 Rafael Nadal, Fernando Verdasco, David Ferrer and Feliciano Lopez defeated the Czech Republic to secure the ITF team trophy for the fourth time.
Following his victory at The Championships, Wimbledon, Nadal flew to South Africa for the final of the FIFA World Cup and saw Spain lift the trophy for the first time with victory over The Netherlands. Afterwards the Mallorcan celebrated with the team in the dressing room and had the chance to hold the trophy.
