Nestor-Zimonjic Begin Campaign
New York, U.S.A.

Second seeds Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic began their US Open campaign on Thursday with a 7-6(6), 6-3 victory over Eric Butorac and Jean-Julien Rojer. They were forced to saved three set points in a tight first set, before coming through the second set more comfortably.
The Canadian-Serbian duo, who reached the quarter-finals in New York last year, have struggled to hit top form over the summer and have not won back-to-back matches since reaching the semi-finals at The Queen’s Club in June. They enjoyed better fortune in the first half of the season, winning five tour-level titles, including the Roland Garros crown.
Israel's former Australian Open champions battled it out on court 16, with Jonathan Erlich getting the upper hand on his close friend Andy Ram. Erlich and Australian Jordan Kerr upset the eighth-seeded pairing of Julian Knowle and Ram 7-5, 6-7(3), 7-6(9). Erlich and Ram have played with different partners this year as Erlich continues to make his way back from an elbow injury.
German-Argentine duo Benjamin Becker and Leonardo Mayer set a second-round meeting with fifth seeds Lukasz Kubot and Oliver Marach after defeating Czech-Serbian pairing Leos Friedl and Dusan Vemic 6-2, 6-4.
