American No. 20 seed Sam Querrey impressed home fans on Sunday at Flushing Meadows as he struck 42 winners and 19 aces to power into the US Open fourth round with a 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 victory over No. 14 seed Nicolas Almagro.

The 22-year-old Querrey has dropped just one set to reach the fourth round for the second time in three years; it was his best result so far in New York when he reached the round of 16 in 2008 (l. to Nadal). The American broke into the Top 20 of the South African Airways 2010 ATP Rankings earlier this year, courtesy of winning four ATP World Tour titles, and will look to make his Grand Slam breakthrough by reaching a quarter-final for the first time when he faces No. 25 seed Stanislas Wawrinka.

“I feel like I'm playing the best I've played all summer,” said Querrey, who won one Olympus US Open Series event in Los Angeles with victory over Murray. “Makes it a little tough today when it's kind of windy. Both guys don't play their absolute best. But considering the conditions, I felt I played really well.  Hopefully I can play better in the next round.”
