Third Seeds Kohlmann-Nieminen Ousted In Metz Opener

Australian-American duo Travis Parrott and Jordan Kerr made a strong start to their Open de Moselle campaign Monday, knocking out No. 3 seeds Michael Kohlmann and Jarkko Nieminen 6-1, 7-6(7) to reach the quarter-finals of the ATP World Tour 250 indoor hard-court tennis tournament in Metz.

Also through to the quarter-finals are Belgians Xavier Malisse and Kristof Vliegen, who battled past Stephen Huss and Dusan Vemic 7-6(4), 3-6, 10-6 in 85 minutes to set up a potential quarter-final meeting with No. 2 seeds Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares.

At the BCR Open Romania, also an ATP World Tour 250 tournament played on clay in Bucharest, Mexican Santiago Gonzalez and American Travis Rettenmaier cruised into the quarter-finals with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Italians Andreas Seppi and Simone Vagnozzi.
