Poles Reach Kuala Lumpur QFs; Aspelin-Hanley Beaten In Bangkok

Top-seeded Poles Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski required just 64 minutes to beat Frank Moser and David Skoch 6-1, 6-4 on Wednesday at the Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur 2010. The pair, currently No. 11 in the year-to-date 2010 ATP Doubles Team Rankings, dropped 10 points on serve to improve to a 25-21 record on the season.

At the PTT Thailand Open in Bangkok, British duo Colin Fleming and Ken Skupski overcame third seeds Simon Aspelin and Paul Hanley 7-6(5), 7-6(3) in one hour and 39 minutes for a quarter-final berth. Aspelin and Hanley, who dropped to a 26-19 season record, are currently No. 9 in the team rankings. The top eight teams will qualify for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals

Fourth seeds Jonathan Erlich and Jurgen Melzer reached the semi-finals, hitting nine aces past Michael Kohlmann and Jarkko Nieminen in a 6-7(5), 7-6(5), 10-5 win in one hour and 46 minutes. Erlich won the 2003 and 2006 titles with fellow Israeli Andy Ram.
