Eric Butorac and Jean-Julien Rojer won their first ATP World Tour doubles title together Sunday with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Andreas Seppi and Dmitry Tursunov in the final of the Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships in Tokyo.

The American and Curacao native were playing their second final together, after finishing runners-up in Los Angeles (l. to Bryans) in August. As winners of the ATP World Tour 500 hard-court tennis tournament, they received 500 ATP World Tour ranking points and shared $76,950 in prize money.

"I really enjoy Japan; it is my second time here and the people are so polite and helpful," said Rojer. "And I really enjoy playing with Eric - I know it is not easy to put up with me!"

"To play in front of a full stadium is very special for us," added Butorac. "We got a little bit lucky today as we had more rest than our opponents [who played their semi-final Saturday evening]!"

In a final between two unseeded teams, Butorac and Rojer converted four of their 10 break point opportunities as they clinched victory in 58 minutes. They had upset No. 3 seeds Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau en route to the final and only lost one set during the week.

The 29-year-old Butorac won his eighth ATP World Tour title from 11 finals, while Rojer, also 29, won his first ATP World Tour title after six runner-up efforts.

Italian Seppi and Russian Tursunov, originally an alternate pairing into the main draw, had defeated No. 4 seeds Frantisek Cermak and Michal Mertinak to reach their first ATP World Tour final together. Seppi dropped to a 0-3 record in ATP World Tour doubles finals, while Tursunov slipped to a 4-4 mark.
