The eight man field for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London was finalized on Thursday but the world class tennis continues at the BNP Paribas Open on Friday with an exciting quarter-final line-up featuring seven of the Top 12 seeds.

First up is No. 4 seed Robin Soderling against No. 8 Andy Roddick, both of whom have already qualified for the season-finale. The head-to-head is tied 2-2, with Soderling winning twice indoors in 2008 and Roddick twice outdoors this year. Both of Roddick’s wins came in three sets at ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments in Indian Wells in March and Cincinnati in August. Roddick is trying to reach the semi-finals here for the third time while Soderling is looking to advance to his first final four in Bercy. He is a two-time finalist at Roland Garros.

Second up is No. 10 seed Nikolay Davydenko against Michael Llodra, the only unseeded player remaining. Llodra had never been past the second round here, but has shocked everyone with this run, defeating No. 16 seed John Isner in the second round and stunning No. 2 seed and defending champion Novak Djokovic in straight sets in the third round. Davydenko, who won the title here in 2006, eliminated No. 5 seed Tomas Berdych in the third round. Even though Davydenko leads the ATP World Tour head-to-head, 4-1, Llodra's win came in their most recent meeting, indoors in Rotterdam two years ago.

In the evening session, top seed and World No. 2 Roger Federer meets No. 11 seed Jurgen Melzer, both 29 years old, and meeting for the third time this year. Despite playing for many years, this season was the first time they played each other. Federer won at Wimbledon and the US Open in straight sets. Federer has surprisingly never been beyond the quarter-finals at this event, falling at this stage three times in the past (2002-03, ‘08). Melzer will be playing in his first quarter-final here.

Finally, No. 3 seed Andy Murray takes a 3-1 career lead against No. 12 seed and last year’s finalist Gael Monfils. Murray is trying to get past the quarters here for the first time in his career, falling in this round twice (2007-08). Monfils reached his first ATP World Tour 1000 final one year ago, falling to Novak Djokovic in a third set tie-break. This is the second straight year two Frenchmen are in the quarter-finals in Bercy.
