Americans Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan suffered their earliest exit in nearly a year, falling to Travis Parrott and Filip Polasek 6-1, 7-6(2) Wednesday at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel. The Bryans had not lost in the first round of a tour-level event since last March at the BNP Paribas Open.

The reigning Australian Open champions were making their first visit to Acapulco since winning the title in 2004. They also claimed the ATP World Tour 500 title on their tournament debut two years earlier.

Another seeded team bowed out Wednesday, with third seeds Mark Knowles and Michal Mertinak succumbing to Romanians Victor Hanescu and Horia Tecau, 7-6(8), 6-1.

Meanwhile, defending champions and No. 2 seeds Lukasz Kubot and Oliver Marach made their way confidently through to the quarter-finals with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Spaniards Daniel Gimeno-Traver and Albert Montanes.

At the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, Sergiy Stakhovsky and Mikhail Youzhny upset No. 4 seeds Lukas Dlouhy and Paul Hanley 3-6, 6-4, 10-3 to reach the semi-finals. It marked the third loss in four matches for Dlouhy and Hanley after beginning their partnership in January with back-to-back titles in Brisbane and Sydney.

In first-round action, third seeds and recent Rotterdam runners-up Michael Llodra and Nenad Zimonjic defeated Andrey Golubev and Andreas Seppi 6-3, 7-5, while Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi posted their team’s 50th match win as they edged Jarkko Nieminen and Viktor Troicki 7-5, 3-6, 10-7.

The Delray Beach International Tennis Championships featured a first-round meeting between two British duos, with Jamie Murray and Ken Skupski getting the better of Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins 7-5, 7-6(5). Murray and Skupski are teaming up for the first time.
