David Nalbandian is eagerly anticipating his return to the ATP World Tour in the weeks before Roland Garros following successful surgery Thursday in Greater Buenos Aires. The former World No. 3 had surgery for a hernia problem and torn adductor muscle after aggravating the conditions during last weekend’s Davis Cup tie against Romania.

Nalbandian, 29, is likely to be out for six to eight weeks, pegging his return around the time of ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments in Madrid (beginning 1 May) and Rome (8 May).

“I am very calm and am confident that I’ll be ready soon to face the rest of the year absolutely fine,” said Nalbandian. In the next few days Nalbandian will travel to Unquilo, where he will continue his rehabilitation with his team.

Currently No. 19 in the South African Airways 2011 ATP Rankings , Nalbandian underwent right hip surgery in May 2009 and was sidelined for nine months, returning in February 2010. Last year he also missed two months between April and July with a hamstring injury.
