Bryans Extend Houston Winning Streak; Lindstedt-Tecau Start Casablanca Defence

ATP World Tour 2011 Season: Week 14

Lindstedt & Tecau© El KhaouaRobert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau won their first doubles title together last year in Casablanca.

Americans Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan ran their winning streak at the US Men's Clay Court Championship to 13 straight matches as they opened with a 6-0, 6-2 win over James Cerretani and Adil Shamasdin.

The top-seeded twins lost just five points on serve and broke the Johannesburg champions five times from nine opportunities to race to the victory in 45 minutes.

The Bryans are looking to rebound from consecutive second-round exits at last month's ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami. They won this ATP World Tour 250 title on their past three visits, in 2007, '09 and '10.

Second seeds Eric Butorac and Jean-Julien Rojer defeated Ashley Fisher and Stephen Huss 7-5, 7-6(4) in their first-round match, while No. 3 seeds Scott Lipsky and Rajeev Ram fell to Pablo Cuevas and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-3, 6-3.

Meanwhile, Americans John Isner and Sam Querrey held on for a 6-1, 7-6(2) victory over Benjamin Becker and Igor Kunitsyn.

Top seeds Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau, returning to the scene of their first ATP World Tour team doubles title, got their Casablanca defence off to a fine start on Tuesday when they defeated Michail Elgin and Andrey Golubev 6-2, 5-7, 10-5 in 81 minutes at the Grand Prix Hassan II.

Lindstedt and Tecau won 75 per cent of service points and improved to a 6-4 match record on the season, highlighted by one runner-up finish at the Brisbane International (l. to Dlouhy-Hanley) in January. The Swedish-Romanian duo is looking to lift their fifth team title this week.

In other first-round action, Michael Kohlmann and Santiago Ventura beat Pablo Andujar and Daniel Gimeno-Traver 7-5, 6-2 while Colin Fleming and Igor Zelenay ousted Travis Parrott and Filip Polasek 7-6(4), 5-7, 10-7 over one hour and 53 minutes.
