MAIN DRAW HIGHLIGHTS
• The Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters, the third ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament of the season, gets underway Sunday, and the question remains, who will dethrone six-time champion Rafael Nadal? The 24-year-old Spaniard has a 34-1 career mark at the Monte-Carlo Country Club with his only loss coming in the third round in his maiden appearance in 2003. Since then he's reeled off 32 straight match wins. He is the only player in the Open Era (since 1968) to win six straight titles in a tournament.
• There are 18 of the Top 25 players in the South African Airways 2011 ATP Rankings in the 56-player draw, including eight of the Top 10.
• The Mallorca native, who went 22-0 on clay last season sweeping the three ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles and Roland Garros, is the top seed in the prestigious field and he opens against a qualifier or Jarkko Nieminen in his first match. The first seed Nadal could face is No. 13 Richard Gasquet in the third round.  In the quarter-finals, Nadal could meet No. 5 seed/wild card Tomas Berdych or No. 12 seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
•  In the second quarter of the draw, No. 3 seed and wild card Andy Murray, a semi-finalist two years ago, looks to break a three match opening round losing streak (four overall) as he opens with the winner of Radek Stepanek-Marcos Baghdatis. In the third round, Murray could play No. 16 seed Gilles Simon. In the quarter-finals, No. 8 seed Gael Monfils and No. 10 Mikhail Youzhny are possible opponents.
• In the third quarter, No. 6 seed and last year’s finalist Fernando Verdasco opens against countryman Tommy Robredo or Croat Ivan Dodig. Both players have won an ATP World Tour title this season. In the third round, Verdasco could play No. 11 seed Viktor Troicki. In the quarter-finals, possible seeded opponents are No. 4 and two-time 2011 ATP World Tour winner David Ferrer or No. 14 Alexandr Dolgopolov, who plays Ernests Gulbis in the first round. Ferrer has a tough opening match against the winner of Janko Tipsarevic-Feliciano Lopez. Young Canadian Milos Raonic, who has climbed from No. 157 at the end of last season to No. 35, makes his Monte-Carlo debut against Michael Llodra.
• In the final quarter of the draw, No. 2 seed and three-time Monte-Carlo runner-up Roger Federer opens against the winner of Andrey Golubev-Philipp Kohlschreiber. The first seed Federer could meet is No. 15 Marin Cilic in the third round. In the quarter-finals, the Swiss star could play No. 7 seed Jurgen Melzer or No. 9 Nicolas Almagro. Also looming is former World No. 3 Nikolay Davydenko, who comes in unseeded. Davydenko plays Dutchman Robin Haase in the first round with the winner to play Melzer.
DOUBLES HIGHLIGHTS
• The top eight seeded teams are: 1) Bob-Mike Bryan, 2007 champions, 2) Max Mirnyi-Daniel Nestor, 3) Jurgen Melzer-Philipp Petzschner, 4) Lukasz Kubot-Oliver Marach, 5) Mariusz Fyrstrenberg-Marcin Matkowski, 6) Rohan Bopanna-Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi, 7), Michael Llodra-Nenad Zimonjic, and 8) Robert Lindstedt-Horia Tecau
• In last year’s final, Nestor-Zimonjic defended their title with a win over Bhupathi-Mirnyi.
