Americans Mardy Fish and Andy Roddick reached their third ATP World Tour doubles final together on Saturday as they defeated Argentine-Finnish duo Carlos Berlocq and Jarkko Nieminen 7-6(7), 6-2 in the semi-finals of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia.

The two Top 12 singles players clinched a tight opening set in a tie-break, before breaking serve twice in the second set as they surged to victory 89 minutes. A day earlier, they had beaten their Davis Cup teammates and defending champions Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan in the quarter-finals.

Fish and Roddick have a perfect 2-0 record in ATP World Tour doubles finals, having won their first title together on clay in Houston in 2002 (d. Gambill-Oliver) before lifting the trophy at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells (d. Mirnyi-Ram) seven years later. The 29-year-old Fish is chasing his ninth ATP World Tour doubles title, while the 28-year-old Roddick is bidding for his fifth trophy.

In the final Fish and Roddick will face either fellow Americans John Isner and Sam Querrey or Italian wild cards Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini.
