SWEDEN 1, ARGENTINA 2
Juan Ignacio Chela and Juan Monaco defeated Sweden's experienced doubles players, Simon Aspelin and Robert Lindstedt, 7-6(1), 6-0 to keep alive Argentina's perfect record at this year's Power Horse World Team Cup.

World No. 5 Robin Soderling, who is making his fourth appearance at the Rochusclub, improved to an 11-1 record in Dusseldorf. Soderling cruised past Maximo Gonzalez of Argentina 6-1, 6-4 in 72 minutes to draw Sweden level at 1-1 in the Red Group clash.

"I have only good memories of this event from the past few years," said Soderling. "It has always been a good preparation for Roland Garros in Paris. My first two matches this year at the Rochusclub were also good, that's why I am confident again for Prais. I don't play doubles here this year because we have a good doubles [team] and six matches would be too many for me."

GERMANY 1, SPAIN 2
Spain recorded its first win of the week thanks to Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez in the doubles rubber. The pair beat Christopher Kas and Philipp Petzschner 7-6(7), 6-3 in just over 90 minutes for a 2-1 win over host nation Germany.

Daniel Gimeno-Traver gave Spain a lifeline earlier in the day when he beat Philipp Kolhschreiber of Germany 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. The World No. 54 won just his fifth tour-level match in 19 matches to send the Blue Group tie to a deciding doubles match.

"Everything was fine until 3-3 in the third set," said Kohlschreiber. "Then I gave away everything within five minutes with easy mistakes. I made my life difficult. I wouldn’t have thought that I would get out of the match so quickly after my good second set. I’m still totally at a loss why."

UNITED STATES 2, KAZAKHSTAN 1
Mardy Fish and John Isner joined forced to beat Kazaks Andrey Golubev and Mikhail Kukushkin 6-3, 7-6(10) in 84 minutes to give the United States a 2-1 win in a Red Group tie.

The duo dropped just 15 points on serve and hit five aces to maintain the Americans unbeaten record in the round robin group. World No. 10 Fish later admitted, "I know I can beat anybody on grass and hard courts, but I used to lose early to the top players on clay. However, due to my good ranking position I now meet them late." Kazakhstan are now 0-2 overall.

SERBIA 2, RUSSIA 1
In a dead rubber, Igor Andreev and Dmitry Tursunov secured Russia its first point of the tie against Serbia when the pair saved five of seven break points to beat Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 in 79 minutes.

OTHER NEWS
World No. 49 Jarkko Nieminen has been taking the opportunity to practise at the Rochusclub for the past three days. "If I had an eligible partner I would very much like to play the World Team Championship in Duesseldorf," said Nieminen. "It’s a great event."
