Top seeds Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan defeated Teymuraz Gabashvili and Mikhail Kukushkin 7-6(6), 7-5 on Monday for a place in the Roland Garros quarter-finals.

The Californian twins converted four of seven break point opportunities for victory in one hour and 45 minutes. They are now 30-6 on the year, which includes three clay-court titles at Houston and ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments in Monte-Carlo and Madrid.

The Bryans won their first of 10 Grand Slam championship titles on Parisian clay in 2003.

Fifth seeds Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi will next meet the Bryan brothers in a repeat of last year's US Open final.

Bopanna and Qureshi dropped just four points on their first serve and hit eight aces to beat Andrey Golubev and Denis Istomin 6-3, 7-5 in 69 minutes on Court 1.

In the first of the quarter-finals, South Americans Juan Sebastian Cabal and Eduardo Schwank continued their impressive run as they defeated Italians Daniele Bracciali and Potito Starace 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 in one hour and 50 minutes.

Colombia’s Cabal and Schwank of Argentina had opened their campaign with victory over eighth seeds and 2009 runners-up Wesley Moodie and Dick Norman. They are making their team debut.
