Rome Fan Wins Trip To Barclays ATP World Tour Finals

Rome, Italy

Corona© ATPOrlandi nailed the Corona Extra bottle on his second attempt.

It looks like an easy shot to make: hitting a giant-sized inflatable bottle of Corona Extra waving at you from the service line. But when 1000 fans are watching in the stands and there is a VIP trip for two to the 2011 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals on the line, the stakes are high. Who wouldn’t be nervous?

Rome tennis fan Stephano Orlandi, misfired on his first attempt before finding his range on the second of three serves he was given to win the prize during a Corona Extra promotion at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia last week.

“The Corona bottle was big enough but hard to hit because of my nerves and also because there were about 1000 people in the stands from the previous match,” Orlandi said.

“Although I hadn’t played tennis for a long time, I was confident enough with my serve. The first shot was not successful. I tried to focus on the bottle, and on the second shot, I hit it!”

Orlandi and his wife Paola will fly to London courtesy of Corona Extra in November to see the Top 8 singles players and doubles teams of 2011 do battle at the O2 arena. “I've never been to the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals before, but I always follow it on television,” the Italian said. “I am very happy to have the opportunity to go see it live.”

The 43 year old was at the event in Rome for the third time, previously attending in 1993 and 2009. “The best match I saw was the 2009 semi-final between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic,” said Orlandi. “My favorite player is Federer for the class and style he shows when he plays.”
