World No. 1 doubles duo Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan closed on their fourth title at The Queen’s Club as they performed double duty to win their quarter-final and semi-final matches on Saturday at the AEGON Championships.

The Americans defeated Argentine-Czech duo Juan Martin del Potro and Radek Stepanek 6-3, 6-7(4), 10-3 in their quarter-final match carried over from Friday, before returning later in the day to dismiss Austria’s Oliver Marach and Marcin Matkowski of Poland 6-2, 6-1 in the semi-finals.

The 33-year-old twins won the Queen’s title in 2001 and again in 2004-2005; they also finished runners-up in 2007. The California natives are bidding to win their fifth tour-level title of the season after victories at the Australian Open, Houston, Monte-Carlo and Madrid.

Second seeds Max Mirnyi and Daniel Nestor also won their quarter-final match on Saturday, with a 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 victory over Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau, however they were unsuccessful in their semi-final bid, losing to third seeds Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes 6-7(7), 7-6(6), 10-8 in a closely fought contest.

The “Indian Express” of Bhupathi and Paes are through to the final at The Queen’s Club for the first time after losing out in the semi-finals in 1998 and 2001. They are looking to win capture third ATP World Tour title of the year after triumphing at Chennai and Miami.

At the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, top seeds Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi advanced to the final with a hard-fought 5-7, 6-3, 11-9 victory over Germans Christopher Kas and Philipp Kohlschreiber in 75 minutes.

The “Indo-Pak Express” is through to its first ATP World Tour final of the season after four losing semi-final efforts. They are bidding to win their first ATP World Tour grass-court team title, having finished runners-up in Newport in 2008.
