Top Four Teams Advance To Kuala Lumpur SFs; Marach-Qureshi On Song In Bangkok

The top four seeds all advanced to the semi-finals at the Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur 2011 on Thursday.

Top seeds Jurgen Melzer and Philipp Petzschner, aiming to win their fourth tour-level title of the year, improved to a 43-20 season record with a comprehensive 6-3, 6-3 victory over British duo Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins.

They will next face third seeds Frantisek Cermak and Filip Polasek, winners of two trophies this year, who improved to a 19-8 season mark, with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 win in 87 minutes over Martin Emmrich and Andreas Siljestrom.

Second seeds Eric Butorac and Jean-Julien Rojer, currently No. 9 in the ATP Doubles Year-To-Date Rankings and hoping to secure their first qualification to the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, beat Lukas Dlouhy and Marcelo Melo 6-4, 4-6, 10-3 in 79 minutes.

They will next challenge fourth seeds Scott Lipsky and Rajeev Ram, also a winner of two ATP World Tour titles this year, who defeated Australians Matthew Ebden and Bernard Tomic 6-3, 6-3 in just 53 minutes.

Top seeds and first-time team Oliver Marach and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi advanced to the PTT Thailand Open semi-finals with a 6-4, 2-6, 10-7 win over Jamie Murray and Andre Sa, last week's Moselle Open championships, in just over 90 minutes.

Later in the day, fourth seeds Paul Hanley and Dick Norman hit five aces past Robin Haase and Roger Wassen for a 6-4, 6-3 win in 65 minutes and a semi-final berth. Second seeds Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram moved into the quarter-finals.
