Shark Bites - Djokovic's $10m Season

After winning his first US Open title and earning $2.3 million, Novak Djokovic set an all-time record for most prize money in a season. He is the third player to earn $10 million in a season, accomplishing the feat in 12 tournaments:

Djokovic and Nadal met for the 29th time and that is the sixth-most head-to-head meetings in the Open Era. Here is a look at the most head-to-heads (min. 25 meetings):

Djokovic became the first player to win a title in his Grand Slam tournament debut as No. 1 since Jim Courier captured the Roland Garros crown in 1992. Here is how players fared as No. 1 in their first Slam tournament since Courier's successful title run:

Djokovic became the sixth player in the Open Era (since 1968) to capture three Grand Slam titles in a season. In 20 years, three players accomplished the feat and since 2004 it's happened five times by three players. Here is the breakdown of titles won by each:
