The final ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament of the season gets underway on Monday at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy featuring 17 of the Top 20 players in the South African Airways ATP Rankings.
There are three positions remaining for the season-ending Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London and holding the No. 8 and final spot is American Mardy Fish. There are five players in pursuit, including Juan Martin del Potro, who is No. 10 and could be No. 9 if he wins the Valencia title on Sunday. If the Argentine captures his first career indoor title in Valencia, he would need to at least reach the semi-finals in Paris to have a chance to pass Fish.
Other London hopefuls and what they need to do in Paris are: No. 9 Nicolas Almagro (must reach final), No. 11 Janko Tipsarevic (must reach final), No. 12 Gilles Simon (must win title), No. 14 Gael Monfils (must win title).

Leading the way in the draw is World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, who is 31-1 in ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments this season with a record five titles. Djokovic, who won the Bercy title two years ago, opens against the winner of Fabio Fognini - Ivan Dodig. The first seed he could meet is No. 15/countryman Viktor Troicki. In the quarter-finals he could play No. 6 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or No. 9 Nicolas Almagro. In the semi-finals he could play No. 4 David Ferrer or No. 8 Monfils. Other seeds are No. 12 del Potro and No. 14 Alexandr Dolgopolov.
In the second quarter of the draw, Ferrer plays the winner of countryman Juan Carlos Ferrero and a qualifier and the first seed is Dolgopolov in the third round. Monfils takes on the winner of left-handers Michael Llodra and Feliciano Lopez and his first seed is del Potro in the third round. Del Potro will have a tough opener against the winner of Stanislas Wawrinka and John Isner.
In the bottom half of the draw (third quarter), No. 3 Roger Federer plays the winner of Dmitry Tursunov and French wild card Adrian Mannarino and the first seed he could meet is No. 16 Richard Gasquet in the third round. In the quarter-finals, Federer could face No. 7 seed Fish or No. 10 Simon. Fish takes on the winner of Florian Mayer - Radek Stepanek in his first match.
In the final quarter of the draw, No. 2 seed Andy Murray, a three-time quarter-finalist in Bercy, plays the winner of Jeremy Chardy - Marcel Granollers in his opening-round match. In the third round, he could face No. 13 Andy Roddick. Other seeds in that section are No. 5 Tomas Berdych, who won the title in his 2005 debut, and No. 11 Tipsarevic.
The eight previous finals in ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments this season have featured players in the current Top 8 in the South African Airways 2011 ATP Year-To-Date Rankings.
