The 2009 champion did not face a break point, winning 90 percent of his first service points to seal the victory in one hour and 31 minutes. The Serbian has now defeated Dodig in all three of their meetings. "I really like playing in Bercy," said Djokovic. "I think it's one of the most entertaining indoor tournaments, and people are coming in numbers here to watch matches. I like playing it."

The owner of a season-record five ATP World Tour Masters 1000 crowns in 2011 after triumphs at Indian Wells, Miami Madrid, Rome and Montreal, Djokovic is bidding to win his 11th title of the year. He’ll face off against countryman Viktor Troicki in a third-round clash. Djokovic has won nine straight encounters against Troicki, which include three wins this season.

The No. 15 seed broke Sergiy Stakhovsky four times to defeat the Ukranian 6-4, 6-4. Troicki is aiming to reach his second Masters 1000 quarter-final after advancing to the final eight in Monte-Carlo.

Nicolas Almagro's hopes of qualifying for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals came to an end Wednesday, as the No. 9 seed lost to Italian qualifier Andreas Seppi 6-3, 7-5 in one hour and 21 mintues. The Spaniard had entered the week just outside qualifying position, at No. 9 in the South African Airways 2011 ATP Year-To-Date Rankings.

Seppi, who opened with a win over former World No. 3 Nikolay Davydenko, will next play sixth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The Frenchman will qualify for the circuit finale should he defeat Seppi.

Spaniard Feliciano Lopez prevented Gael Monfils from making it third time lucky at the BNP Paribas Masters, ousting the two-time finalist 6-3, 6-4. The eighth-seeded Frenchman was unable to take advantage of his five break points, while Lopez went two for three on his opportunities.

"I had a few opportunities that I was not able to convert, and as the match progressed I got upset about a few mistakes I made," said Monfils. "I wanted to finish off the points too fast. I was rushing. But he played well, too."

Monfils held an outside chance of qualifying for the Finals coming into Paris, but was eliminated from contention following Mardy Fish's second-round win over Florian Mayer earlier Wednesday.

Lopez will next face American John Isner, who fired seven aces in his 6-4, 6-4 second-round victory over lucky loser Igor Kunitsyn.
