On the eve of his debut at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, top-ranked American Mardy Fish has committed to play the 2012 US Men’s Clay Court Championship from April 9-15 at River Oaks Country Club.

Fish is ranked No. 8 on the ATP World Tour, and enters the year-end championships in London after going 43-22 in 2011. He once again enjoyed great success during the US summer hard court swing, claiming the title in Atlanta and reaching finals in Montreal and Los Angeles.

The 2011 US Men’s Clay Court Championship was the first tournament Fish played as the No. 1 ranked player in the United States, an honour he has held since April.

Fish is no stranger to Houston, having won the US Men’s Clay Court Championship singles title in 2006 while posting a 10-8 record all-time in the event, including a quarter-final finish in 2011.

In doubles action, Fish is a two-time winner in Houston, teaming with Andy Roddick to claim the title in 2002 and with James Blake to win in 2004.
