Fifth-seeded Serbian Viktor Troicki started his 2012 ATP World Tour season on Monday by beating Czech Lukas Rosol 6-4, 7-6(4) in 79 minutes at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open. Troicki, who reached the 2010 semi-finals, won 76 per cent of his service points and hit 16 aces.

"It was a tough match for both of us," said Troicki. "We both played very good, so I am happy I have won, the way I played and I hope to continue the rest of the tournament."
