Bryans, Llodra-Zimonjic Into Third Round

Five-time Australian Open champions Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan required 70 minutes to beat Australians Lleyton Hewitt and Peter Luczak 6-3, 7-6(5) on Friday for a place in the Australian Open third round.

The American twins, who are bidding to lift their 12th major championship title, will next face 15th seeds Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins, who cruised past Alex Bogomolov Jr. and Igor Kunitsyn 6-0, 6-3 in just 55 minutes.

Third seeds Michael Llodra and Nenad Zimonjic did not drop serve to beat Marc Lopez and David Marrero 6-3, 6-2 in 54 minutes. They go onto face Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek for a place in the quarter-finals. Paes and Stepanek defeated 14th-seeded Italians Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini 6-2, 7-6(5) in one hour and 39 minutes.

Reigning US Open champions and No. 5 seeds Jurgen Melzer and Philipp Petzschner defeated Juan Ignacio Chela and Eduardo Schwank 6-2, 6-4 in 62 minutes. They will now challenge Santiago Gonzalez and Christopher Kas, the No. 12 seeds, who battled to beat Argentines Carlos Berlocq and Leonardo Mayer 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-1.

Tenth seeds Eric Butorac and Bruno Soares saved all six break points they faced to dismiss Flavio Cipolla and Denis Istomin 6-2, 6-3 in just under an hour.
