Gonzalez, sidelined with a knee injury for most of 2011, took the match in one hour and 28 minutes to win his 2012 season debut. The Chilean is a four-time tournament champion, having last triumphed in 2009 (d. Acasuso).
"Happy that I could play again with the Chilean crowd; I hadn't done it in a long time," said Gonzalez. "That was a dream and the fact that I could win made it even more special."
