Fifth seed Kevin Anderson marked his SAP Open debut by coming from a set down to defeat Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov 2-6, 7-6(5), 7-6(3) on Monday evening in the first round of the ATP World Tour 250 indoor hard-court tennis tournament in San Jose.

The South African fired 15 aces, but faced nine break points and lost serve twice as he was pushed to a third-set tie-break by the No. 82-ranked Dimitrov, who did not lose serve throughout the two-hour, 27-minute match.

The 25-year-old Anderson was playing his first match since reaching the third round of the Australian Open (l. to Berdych) in January. He improved to a 3-2 match record on the season.

World No. 89 Tobias Kamke notched his second tour-level win of 2012 as he defeated South African Izak Van der Merwe 6-3, 6-3.

The German converted all four of his break point chances to wrap up victory in 76 minutes on his debut in San Jose. His only previous win this season came at the Australian Open, where he defeated Victor Hanescu to reach the second round.
