Mirnyi-Nestor Reach Memphis Final; Bhupathi-Bopanna Upset In Marseille

Defending Memphis champions Max Mirnyi and Daniel Nestor eased past 2010 titlists John Isner and Sam Querrey 7-6(3), 6-2 in the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships semi-finals on Saturday.
The top seeds broke the Americans twice in the second set to advance to their second final of the year. Mirnyi and Nestor are bidding to win their sixth team trophy, having started their season by triumphing at the Brisbane International (d. Melzer-Petzschner). In the final, they will face the first-time pairing of Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo.
The Croat and Brazilian beat Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins 6-3, 7-6(4) in 82 minutes. Dodig and Melo did not face a break point, winning 81 per cent of their first serve points against the Brits.
In Marseille, Dustin Brown and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga upset No. 1 seeds Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna 6-7(3), 7-5, 10-6 in the Open 13 semi-finals.
The German-French duo hit 19 aces, and saved five of the six break points they faced to reach their first team final in one hour and 35 minutes. They are appearing in their second tournament together, having bowed out in the first round of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open at the start of the season n Doha.
Brown and Tsonga will take on French pair Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin in Sunday’s title match.
At the Copa Claro, second seeds Michal Mertinak and Andre Sa advanced to their second straight final, edging Rui Machado and Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo 7-5, 4-6, 10-5 in Buenos Aires.
In the Match Tie-break, Mertinak and Sa hit 100 per cent of their first serves in play, winning six of seven points to claim victory in one hour and 46 minutes. The Slovak-Brazilian tandem finished runner-up to Eric Butorac and Bruno Soares last week at the Brasil Open 2012 in Sao Paulo.
