Frank Moser: The Bio File
by Scoop Malinowski|
Frank Moser reveals his strangest match, the first pro he ever met and why he loves tennis in this biofile...
First Tennis Memory: I was hitting against the garage at my house when I was a kid.
Tennis Inspirations: When I was a kid it was always Lendl and Yevgeny Kafelnikov. And now, I don't really have any idols any more. Kafelnikov played for my club in Germany and I got to play with him here and there. And I just thought he was a really good player.
Last Book Read: That was...I didn't read the full book. But I read part of the Holy Bible of Investing or something. And I read part of Nadal's book. (Very good?) What I read was very good.
Current Car: I don't have my own car. I drive my parents' when I'm home.
Greatest Sports Moment: Probably beating the Bryans at US Open [in 2011 with Ivo Karlovic].
Most Painful Moment: "I'm not sure. There are a lot of painful moments but there were other very great moments also. And I hope more of those great moments will come.
Favourite Tournament: The Grand Slams
Strangest Match: I played indoors and it started raining. Because the roof was not good. So it was a rain delay indoors. (Where?) Kazakhstan.
Closest Tennis Friends: Matthias Bachinger, Ivo [and] Sebastian Rieschick.
Favourite Players To Watch: My friends, Ivo, Bachinger and I like [Roger] Federer probably the most.
Favourite Sport Outside Tennis: Basketball
First Famous Tennis Pro You Ever Met: Andrei Medvedev. He lived close to my house.
Funny Tennis Memory: I saw in Australia some guys were playing doubles and the bird flew in and they [Jamie Murray at the 2011 Australian Open] hit the bird and the bird died. A few years ago. It's on YouTube. It was funny but not for the bird. Sorry for the bird.
People Qualities Most Admired: Honesty. Friendly. And respectful.
Why Do You Love Playing Tennis: I just love it. I don't know why, I love it. Why do you love your wife [smiles].
