MUNICH SATURDAY PREVIEW - GERMAN WILD CARD JOINS THREE OF TOP FOUR SEEDS IN SEMI-FINALS
• Three of the Top 4 seeds and the wild card who took out the No. 1 seed make up the final four on Saturday at the BMW Open, an ATP World Tour 250 tournament held on the clay courts of Munich.
The foursome have combined to hold 88 of 90 service games this week. This is the second straight year two Germans are in the semi-finals (Mayer d. Petzschner in 2011).

• The first semi-final pits No. 3 seed Marin Cilic against German wild card Tommy Haas; both are former Top 10 players (Cilic has been as high as No. 9, Haas No. 2) and both are former finalists here (Cilic was a runner-up to Mikhail Youzhny in 2010, Haas was a runner-up to Franco Squillari in 2000). Haas won their only previous meeting, a near-four-and-a-half-hour battle in the third round of- Wimbledon in 2009, but it has also been since that grass court season in 2009 since Haas last reached an ATP World Tour final (he won Halle that year) while Cilic has reached nine finals since then (winning three of those nine finals). Cilic is trying to reach his 13th career ATP World Tour final (6-6 mark) and third on clay (0-2) while Haas is trying to reach his 22nd final (12-9 record) and fifth on clay (1-3).

• In the second semi-final, No. 2 Feliciano Lopez of Spain brings a 3-1 career head-to-head edge against No. 4 seed and No. 2 German Philipp Kohlschreiber. Kohlschreiber won their recent meeting in Cincinnati last August but Lopez won their only clay court meeting in Rome last year. Lopez is playing here for the first time while Kohlschreiber is appearing in Munich for the eighth time (and in the semi-finals for the second time, having won the title in 2007);

• Kohlschreiber is 2-5 against Top 20 players this year (0-1 on clay) and last year he went 6-10 against Top 20 opponents (2-4 on clay, the wins both coming against then-World No. 13 Mikhail Youzhny). Lopez is trying to reach his eighth career ATP World Tour final (2-5 mark) and third on clay (0-2). Kohlschreiber is trying to reach his sixth career final (3-2 record) and second on clay (1-0)
