Player To Watch: Nikolay Davydenko
Davydenko returns to Munich this week, looking to recapture the form that saw him triumph for the second time at the event in 2011. The Russian defeated Florian Mayer in last year’s final to win his 21st title. Since lifting the trophy, the 30 year old has not appeared in a final. His best showing thus far in 2012 came in Rotterdam, where he pushed eventual champion Roger Federer to three sets in the semi-finals. Davydenko is the No. 7 seed and faces Mikhail Kukushkin or a qualifier in his opening match.
